Blue Ridge Bank will host a Valentine’s blood drive through The Blood Connection on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Bank’s main office located at 100 East Main Street from 1pm to 5pm.

The Blood Connection, headquartered in Piedmont, South Carolina, supplies blood to over twenty five hospitals, including Oconee Memorial. According to The Blood Connection, more than 4.5 million lives are saved each year by a single, selfless act of donating blood. Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds.

Blood donation requirements include a minimum weight of 110 pounds and minimum age of 17 years old. A 16 year old is eligible to donate with written parental consent.
